Lot Tree Planting Program

Rainbow Falls is pleased to provide one tree credit of $250.00 to each and every home in the development that provided a tree in their front yard.

The Process

Step 1:

Purchase a tree of your choice from a reputable landscaping outfit such as Foothills Lanscaping.

Step 2:

Ensure that the tree has a minimum 4” calliper (trunk diameter) and is at least six feet (6’) tall.

Step 3:

Call Alberta First Call and plant the tree in your front yard opposite your driveway, ensuring no encroachment into any Utility Right of Way or Easement or neighbouring yards.  Also ensure no contact or damage to water valves and shallow utility street lights or boxes.

Step 4:

Complete the online tree credit form to the right or register by fax to (403)240-4570 and provide the following information:  Name, address including postal code, telephone number, tree type, tree height and trunk diameter and date of planting.

Step 5:

Rainbow Falls Development Inc. will arrange for inspection of the said tree within the next two (2) weeks.

Step 6:

Should the said tree comply with the requirements at the discretion of the developer, Rainbow Falls Development Inc. will issue a one-time tree credit of $250.00 by cheque which will be mailed to you within four (4) weeks of the date of satisfactory inspection.

Conditions

  1. Tree credits are only provided one time to the first owner of the home and only for trees planted in the front yard.
  2. The homeowner is fully responsible for the maintenance and watering of the tree immediately upon planting.  Trees will not be replaced by the developer should any problems arise with the tree.
  3. Tree credits are at the sole discretion of Rainbow Falls Development Inc.

Tree Maintenance Guidelines

Approximately 90% of the problem incurred with new trees is due to watering (either too much or too little.)  Whenever in doubt, dig a hole beside the root ball of the tree and check the moisture content.  Ensure that the soil is moist, not dry, hard or muddy.

It is recommended to keep a tree well around your tree.  Fill the tree well with water and allow the root ball to absorb the water slowly.  This should be done, on average, twice a week, based on the soil moisture.

We recommend a fertilizer application in May using a 10-52-10 fertilizer (high phosphorus promotes root development.)  Be sure to read the fertilizer application rates, as all fertilizers are different.
